What are all of these permits for?
Depending on your project, you may need a development permit, a building permit, and/or electrical, plumbing, and gas permits.
Development Permits ensure the use of the land and location of buildings meet the regulations of the Town's Land Use Bylaw. Land uses are classified under each land use district as either permitted or discretionary.
Building, Plumbing, Gas, and Electrical Permits ensure that the construction methods meet the requirements of the Alberta Building Code and other relevant safety regulations.
Permit order is important
A development permit must be issued prior to a building permit. Similarly, a building permit must be issued prior to plumbing, gas, and electrical permits.
