New! Hinton Policing Committee

The Hinton Policing Committee will work closely with Hinton RCMP to improve community safety and policing.


The Committee will be composed of five members, including three citizens-at-large, the Mayor of Hinton, and an appointed Hinton Town Council member. Three citizen-at-large Committee members will be selected, each serving two to three year terms.

Citizen-at-large Committee members will:

  • Represent Hinton's community interests
  • Contribute to policing priorities and safety plans
  • Collaborate with community groups and agencies on safety initiatives
  • Report to Council.

To be eligible, citizen-at-large applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant
  • Be a resident of Hinton for at least12 consecutive months immediately preceding appointment.
  • Not be employed or contracted by the Town of Hinton, RCMP, any Provincial or Municipal Police or Peace Officer service/agency, or the Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General.

Selected applicants must be willing to:

  • Supply an enhanced security check showing no convictions for a criminal offence.
  • Take an oath of office.
