The Hinton Policing Committee will work closely with Hinton RCMP to improve community safety and policing.
The Committee will be composed of five members, including three citizens-at-large, the Mayor of Hinton, and an appointed Hinton Town Council member. Three citizen-at-large Committee members will be selected, each serving two to three year terms.
Citizen-at-large Committee members will:
- Represent Hinton's community interests
- Contribute to policing priorities and safety plans
- Collaborate with community groups and agencies on safety initiatives
- Report to Council.
To be eligible, citizen-at-large applicants must:
- Be aged 18 or over.
- Be a Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant
- Be a resident of Hinton for at least12 consecutive months immediately preceding appointment.
- Not be employed or contracted by the Town of Hinton, RCMP, any Provincial or Municipal Police or Peace Officer service/agency, or the Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General.
Selected applicants must be willing to:
- Supply an enhanced security check showing no convictions for a criminal offence.
- Take an oath of office.
