Waste Collection

Regular Garbage Pick-Up
If you have a black garbage container, please be sure to roll it to the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection day

Placing Your Garbage Container:

  • Place bin wheels towards the curb
  • Leave space between your bin and the curb.
  • Leave 1-2 metres between your bin and vehicle.
  • Leave 1-2 metres between your bin and your neighbour's bin.

Please remember to remove your container at the end of the day.

Waste Disposal Tips

  • Bag all waste properly.
  • Do not overfill your bin.
  • Do not dispose of bulky and extra-heavy materials (e.g. sod, dirt, concrete) or hazardous wastes in the container.
  • No grass clippings, wet grass, soil, dirt, or other loose landscaping waste is accepted in pick-up.
  • Double-bag animal waste.
  • Place all garbage in the bin; garbage cans and loose garbage bags outside the container cannot be collected.

Yard Waste

Have yard waste? Here's what to do.

Step 1: Collect and separate into piles by type. Grass/leaves, wood/branches/sticks.

Step 2: Bag the grass and leaves; bundle the sticks into 1.9 m (4 foot) lengths. Or, if composting, skip this step.

Step 3: Place the bags in the garbage or take the bags and bundles to the Rowan Street Recycling Depot or West Yellowhead Regional Landfill. Call first, to ensure they take the type of yard waste that you have.

Do not dump in alleys or bushes.
