[ARCHIVED] Alberta Day Roots & Ridges Celebration

Albert Day

The Town of Hinton invites residents and visitors to celebrate Alberta Day at the Ridges and Roots Alberta Day Celebration, a free community event taking place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsmen Park. Hosted with support from the Government of Alberta, the celebration will honour the province’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and community spirit.

A free afternoon packed with live performances, tasty eats, and hands-on heritage experiences. Take in the excitement of the pie contest and duck race, explore local art and culture, and enjoy roaming entertainers and engaging displays. It’s a chance to celebrate Alberta’s rich stories, vibrant creativity, and strong community spirit, all in one unforgettable day!

Pie Contest: Now Accepting Entries

The Community Pie Contest invites home bakers, professionals, and youth to compete for a chance to win #HintonFirst Bucks and a blue ribbon. Judging begins at 12 p.m. on the main stage, with members of Town Council scoring entries in the following categories:

  • Best Fruit Pie
  • Best Savoury Pie
  • Youth Category (17 and under)

Each entry must include two identical pies: one for judging and one for the silent auction, which will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Auction winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. Each category winner receives $100 in #HintonFirst Bucks and a blue ribbon. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the BRIDGES Society for Mental Wellbeing.

Bakers must register online by August 29 by clicking here and provide a list of ingredients for allergy awareness. Contestants may also share a story about their pie to be displayed at the event.
