[ARCHIVED] Pool Shutdown – September 2 – October 14, 2025 for Annual Maintenance

Pool Shutdown 2025

The Town of Hinton is preparing for its annual Aquatic Centre shutdown at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre. The Pool will be closed from Tuesday, September 2 to Tuesday, October 14, 2025, to complete important maintenance and facility upgrades.

Each year, the Aquatic Centre undergoes a preventative maintenance shutdown to ensure the facility remains clean, safe, and fully operational throughout the rest of the year. This year’s work includes:

  • Deep cleaning of pool basins, showers, steam room, and change rooms
  • Replacing chipped tiles and applying new grout
  • Grip painting on pool decks and railings
  • Pump servicing and drainage repairs
  • Installation of a new aquatic climbing wall
  • Additional lighting and accessibility upgrades

“Proactive maintenance during this shutdown reduces the risk of unexpected closures later in the year and ensures that the facility remains in top condition for our users,” says Connor Shaw, Aquatic Supervisor.

Annual pass holders will automatically receive a one-month extension to cover the closure period. All other areas of the Recreation Centre, including the bouldering wall, courts, and arena, will remain open to the public.
