Starting August 5, the Town of Hinton will install sound-reducing panels on a portion of the chain-link fence adjacent to the outdoor pickleball courts at Gerard Redmond School. These panels are being placed along the section of fence that borders Fuller Place to help reduce the noise experienced by nearby residents.
This project follows an acoustic assessment by SLR Consulting, which helped determine the best type and placement of materials to reduce the impact of pickleball noise. While this solution will not eliminate all sound, it is intended to support the peaceful enjoyment of neighbouring properties.
Important Notes for Court Users:
- Parks staff will remove the wind screening from the section of the chain-link fence where the sound panels will be installed on Friday, August 1.
- Courts will remain open during the installation (Aug 5–7).
- Some courts may be temporarily unavailable during portions of the work. The contractor will communicate directly with players on site.
- The panels won’t reduce court space or restrict access to gates.
This work is being completed by Merlin Noise Control, with equipment arriving on August 4 and the crew leaving on August 8.
