Alder Park Playground Replacement
Alder Park Playground has reached the end of its operational life, so the Town of Hinton is replacing all play structures in 2025.

Boutin Avenue Development
The Town of Hinton is working on an affordable housing development on Town-owned land at the intersection of Boutin Avenue and Drinnan Way. The project will see a number of modular affordable homes developed and operated by Town of Hinton in partnership with a housing management body.

Hinton Geothermal
The Town of Hinton has been investigating the potential for the development of a geothermal resource as a renewable heat source, recognizing the opportunity this resource presents to attract new economic investment and diversification, and to reduce the community’s carbon footprint.

PAR999 Holdings Inc. Proposed Development
In March 2022, the Town of Hinton announced that a purchase agreement had been secured for acquiring a portion of golf course lands by PAR999 Holdings Inc. to construct an innovative hospitality development that aims to enhance Hinton as an educational and career destination.

Recreation Centre Modernization
The potential modernization of the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre has been discussed for over 10 years. The physical and financial feasibility of modernizing the centre continues to be considered and is a priority for Town of Hinton Council in 2025.

Residential Housing Infill Strategy
The Town of Hinton needs more housing for current and future residents. Therefore, the Town has initiated an infill strategy which aims to increase residential housing while limiting costs to the Town and its taxpayers.

Water Treatment Plant Development
Since the 1950s, Hinton's pulp mill has provided potable water for Town of Hinton residents plus treated and disposed of wastewater and sewage. In 2024, Hinton signed new agreements with Mondi, the pulp mill owner, and responsibility for potable water production and wastewater and sewer treatment will be tranferred to the Town over the next 25 years. That includes constructing a new Town-owned water treatment plant by 2046.
