Bylaws & Policies

Bylaws are laws created under the authority of the Municipal Government Act. Town of Hinton bylaws are enacted by Town Council and maintained by the Town's Legislative Services Service Unit.

Policies set overarching principles, guidelines and standards of operation within the Town of Hinton, by providing standards for decision making, guidelines for programs, addressing recurring issues and/or setting the manner by which the Town will perform duties imposed on itself or those imposed on the Town by legislation. Town policies are approved by Town Council through resolution and maintained by the Town's Legislative Services Service Unit.

Bylaws and policies, as presented here, have no legal sanction and are presented solely for the purpose of research and ease of reference. If you require an official copy of a bylaw or policy, the most up-to-date version or a bylaw or policy that is not listed here, please contact the Town of Hinton Legislative Services Service Unit at 780-865-6040. Official bylaws and policies, available from the Legislative Services Service Unit, must be consulted for purposes of interpreting and applying the law or policy.
