What Permits Do I Need?

A Development Permit is required if the total driveway width exceeds 6 metres. Otherwise, no permits are required to build or expand a driveway or parking pad. 

Please consider that your driveway and parking pad must still meet the requirements of the Land Use Bylaw, most particularly the requirement to maintain 40% of the front yard as landscaping (not to be used as parking).

Top Tips

• All driveways and parking pads must comply with the regulations within the Land Use Bylaw.
• If the driveway or parking pad requires an adjustment to the curb to allow access, the curb cut must comply with the Minimum Development Engineering Design and Servicing Standards (Link to the standards)
