Water-Saving Tips

Almost half of all household water use happens in the bathroom. Small changes can save thousands of litres and reduce your utility costs.

Water‑Saving Tips:

  • Check toilets for leaks – A leaking toilet can waste up to4,000litresof water per day.
  • Upgrade to low‑flow toilets – Modern models use 4.8litresor less per flush.
  • Shorten your showers – An eight‑minute shower uses about80litres. Reducing it to five minutes can cut water use by roughly 35%.
  • Install low‑flow showerheads – Look for models that use 7.5litresper minute or less.
  • Skip baths – A single bath can use more than150litresof water.

Quick tip: Play a five‑minute song while you shower. When it ends, you’re done.

Starting Spring 2026, water use will be billed by volume. Learn more at hinton.ca/engage.

The community skate park is getting a spring refresh! Starting May 4 (weather permitting), crews from Calgary‑based 5‑O Solutions will repair existing concrete features.

The work is expected to take 6–8 weeks and focuses on maintenance only—no changes or expansions. Thanks for your patience while we help keep the park rolling strong!

Updates, including temporary closures, will be shared as details are confirmed. Questions can be submitted through Hinton Listens.
