What to expect during Pool Shutdown 

Each year, the Aquatic Centre at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre closes for a short period to complete critical preventative maintenance and upgrades. This year’s closure will take place from September 2 to October 14, 2025. 

This scheduled shutdown is an important part of maintaining a safe and high-functioning aquatic facility. Planned work includes: 

• Deep cleaning of pool basins, showers, and change rooms
• Replacing worn tiles and applying fresh grout
• Recoating safety grip paint on decks and railings
• Servicing pumps and mechanical systems
• Installing a brand-new aquatic climbing wall

This proactive approach reduces the risk of unscheduled service interruptions and helps keep the facility in top condition for the rest of the year.
