2020 Arts on Fire - Nomination Form

  2. The Office of the Mayor and Department of Recreation and Culture invites you to submit nominations for its 2020 Arts on Fire awards. Please complete sections A - C before submitting.
    This awards program is designed to:

    - Honour major contributions to arts and culture by individuals, organizations and business
    - Cultivate greater visibility and understanding of the value of the arts
    - Encourage excellence and build new leadership within the cultural community
    - Develop patrons for the arts and culture

    The awards will be presented at the Arts on Fire – Mayor’s Evening of the Arts on February 22, 2020 at the Performing Arts Theatre of Hinton (PATH).

  3. Nomination Criteria
  4. Nominees are assessed by a jury based on the following criteria:
    Artistic Excellence
    Artistic development and contribution
    Impact on the community
    No conflict of interest
  5. The deadline for nominations is January 3, 2020
  6. A. Nominator Information
  7. Those making nominations:
    Nominators must complete the nomination form, notify the nominee, and provide any support materials to Arts & Culture. The nominator must not be a family member, co-habiting partner, or when the nominee is an organization, the nominator cannot be a board member or staff person of the organization.
    Arts on Fire jury or committee members may not submit nominations if they are currently serving on a jury or selection committee.

  11. Requirements:
  12. • Biography: All nominees must submit a biography up to 100 words in length. This biography will be used in the Arts on Fire program and promotional material.
    • Emerging Artist’s Statement: All emerging artist award nominees must submit a brief statement outlining how they would use the cash award to further their career.
    • Support materials: Where possible, it is recommended that you illustrate the nomination with support documents and materials. Support materials must be dropped off to the Event Coordinator at the Recreation Centre 805 Switzer Drive by January 3, 2020
  13. C. Nominee Information
  14. All nominees must submit a biography up to 100 words in length.
  15. Emerging artist award nominees must submit a brief statement outlining how they would use the cash award to further their career.
  16. Supplemental Materials
    Supplemental materials can be in the form of CDs, DVDs, photographs on a flash drive, letters of reference (c), artist portfolio, press clippings (c) resume (c), video, wav file, website link or URL, PowerPoint, actual art pieces (please limit quantity to 2-3 pieces, with all pieces labeled.
