Town Hires New CAO
Following a comprehensive recruitment process, Town Council is pleased to announce Stephane Labonne has accepted the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Hinton. Mr. Labonne starts in his new role on October 5, 2017.
“First of all, on behalf of Town Council I want to personally thank Laura Howarth for doing an excellent job in the role as Interim CAO. Council has been busy with the recruitment process over the summer and we are excited today to be able to announce that Stephane will be starting with the Town shortly. We are confident that his experience will continue to lead Hinton forward”, says Mayor Rob Mackin.
The new CAO brings over 20 years of experience in municipal government working with local councils and administrations to build strong communities. Mr. Labonne comes to the Town of Hinton from Sturgeon County, where he is currently serving as the General Manager of Integrated Growth, overseeing economic development, engineering, land-use planning and intergovernmental affairs.
“I am excited to be joining the Town of Hinton as its CAO. This appointment is an opportunity for me to lead an organization which has a very bright future,” says Mr. Labonne. “I am looking forward to working with the new Mayor and Councillors, as well as the professional and dedicated staff, in serving the citizens of Hinton.”
The CAO is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and administration of all policies and programs established and approved by Council; advancing Council’s strategic plans; guiding and advising Council on legislation and municipal operations; and providing information to support Council in making informed decisions.
