Remembrance Day in Hinton

This year, Canada marks the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice and "Canada's 100 Days" - a three-month stretch of victories at the end of the war (learn more on the Veteran Affairs Canada's website here).

The Hinton Legion will hold their ceremonies starting at 10:45 AM on November 11 in the Hinton Centre, followed by wreath laying at the Cenotaph, and then lunch in the Legion.

As part of honouring this landmark anniversary, Hinton Fire and RCMP will sound sirens starting at 4:59 PM for one minute. Please do not be alarmed by this occurrence, and feel encouraged to reflect on Canadian Veterans contributions throughout history.

All Town of Hinton facilities will be closed on November 11.

All Town of Hinton facilities, except for the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre and Hinton Municipal Library, will be closed on November 12 in recognition of the holiday.

The Protective Services and Infrastructure Services 24/7 lines (780-865-6009 and 780-865-2634 respectively) remain active during facility closures. Always call 911 in an emergency.
