Routine Maintenance on existing Trans Mountain Pipeline

The Town of Hinton has received the following notice from Trans Mountain and is resharing it for our residents information.

You are receiving this notice as a neighbour of our existing Trans Mountain Pipeline. As part of our ongoing pipeline safety program, we will be completing routine maintenance on a segment of the pipeline in Hinton located near Lions Park. This work is scheduled to occur over the course of three weeks* in late October– late November 2018*.

The work will include an integrity dig on the pipeline, which involves excavating and inspecting a segment of pipe using visual and other non-destructive examination methods. If required, repairs will be completed, the site will be backfilled and reclaimed to pre-construction conditions and land capabilities. Work will take place during regular business hours; however, some weekend work may be required.

During these times, neighbours may notice increased activity and intermittent noise near the work area. Happy Creek Trail System users may experience temporary delays. We appreciate your patience as we complete our maintenance activities in a safe and timely manner, with as little disturbance as possible. We conduct our work under Environmental Protection and Emergency Response Plans to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and requirements. All work will be conducted under applicable municipal permits and bylaws.

Our goal is to ensure that our facilities continue to operate safely and reliably while complying with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements and minimizing any potential impacts on both the public and the environment.
