Town of Hinton Parks, Open Space and Trails Master Plan

The Town of Hinton along with ISL Engineering and Land Services, is developing a Parks, Open Space and Trails Master Plan. The purpose of the Master Plan is to identify gaps, needs and priorities for the Town.

As part of the development of the Master Plan, we are undertaking a review of the Town’s existing parks, open spaces and trail networks, including best practices from similar municipalities, and implementing a comprehensive engagement process to gather feedback from Town residents and stakeholders.

Where Are We Now?

We are currently in the first phase (Discovery) of the project and, in June, we will be seeking input on what’s important to residents and stakeholders, what outdoor amenities are being used and current levels of satisfaction, what barriers might exist, and what type of amenities or features are desired.

Get Involved – Upcoming Engagement Opportunities

On June 16, project team members will be out and about in the community to speak to residents and stakeholders and gather input on potential issues and opportunities related to the Town’s outdoor parks, open spaces and trail networks.

Pop by the locations below to meet and chat with the project team:

9 to 11 am - Mud Run (open space between the curling rink and Barrow Safety)
Noon to 2 pm - Green Square
2:30 to 4 pm - various locations

Next Steps

Using the feedback gathered during the first phase of engagement and through an inventory of facilities and amenities, we will complete a needs assessment and share our findings in September.
