Are You Prepared?

Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is an annual event during the first full week of May recognized as an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.

Over the week, the Town of Hinton will be using many of our communication tools to provide information on how you can get your family prepared. Take a look at some of the images and content below, and make sure to visit Hinton.ca/Disaster to see more and download our Four Steps to Prep Brochure
Evac Checklist

This Emergency Preparedness week, ask yourself “Am I ready? Is my family?”

Consider where you have the above items in your home; are they easy to access? Ready to grab and go, should an evacuation be called?

Where's Your Muster Point?

If you don't have access to a vehicle, or are out of gas, or any number of other potential scenarios, you'll need to know your muster point. And should evacuations be necessary in Hinton, they will likely be done in zones; do you know your evacuation zone?

To help you locate your zone and muster point, Town of Hinton Communications has created an interactive map; view it here.

Evac Types

Do you know the types and stages of Evacuations?

It's important to know exactly what you need to do, should an evacuation occur. View the image above, and our 4steps2prep brochure, to learn more.

Learn More

You can learn more about emergency preparedness by visiting the Disaster Services web page, available here.

There's also a great opportunity to learn more, in person, with emergency services providers both local and regional. An Emergency Services day is scheduled for this Sunday, May 13, between 12 and 4pm. Many pieces of equipment, gear, and officials will be on hand to help you learn more about the emergency services ready in your community.
