Public Notice: Local Construction Survey

Residents of Meadow Drive

The Town of Hinton has recently approved deep utility rehabilitation works in your neighborhood. This work includes the replacement of all main sanitary and water lines along with replacement of sidewalks, curbs, gutters and road. As an established neighborhood, we recognize that your private service connections may also be aged and in need of replacement. The project requires locating your services to be able to reconnect your existing service lines and/or provide the opportunity for you to have your private connections replaced at your cost during the construction program.

Works are proposed for the summer of 2017 and we will be in touch with the residents to see who wishes to replace service connections in the near future. Over the next few weeks, Foothills Surveys and Hoggan Engineering and Testing will be performing topographic surveys and drilling boreholes in your neighborhood for the proposed work. This work is required to ensure that construction works are completed properly and your private services can be located.

Foothills Surveys will be conducting Site, Road and Topographical Surveys of your neighborhood. The proposed survey boundary is set between the road and resident front yards. In addition to this, the survey will include the back lane of Meadow Drive. This is needed to ensure properties are designed for, and resident impacts are minimal. These surveys will look at a number of elements of each property including houses, front yards, driveways, utilities, alleyways, walkways, fence lines, and sidewalks.

In addition to topographic surveys, a geotechnical investigation will be done in order to determine all the excavation requirements and concerns that must be considered for the project, and will allow us to ensure that the project progresses as efficiently as possible. The boundaries for the geotechnical investigation include the roadway and sidewalks on Meadow Drive.  The investigation will consist of drilling several boreholes within these boundaries.

Please note that this 2017 Capital Project is approved by Council and an official award of the General Contractor will be brought forward to Council on June 6, 2017.   It is anticipated that the successful General Contractor will commence site work before June 30, 2017.

If you have input or would like to be more informed on the rehabilitation project, we will be setting up a community neighbor barbeque (open house) on June 9, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. on Meadow Drive. Representatives of the Town of Hinton, ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd., and the successful contractor will be present in order to offer clarifications and to answer any questions you may have.
