Deadline for 2017 Wildlife Smart Workshop in Edson Extended

The Government of Alberta BearSmart Committee has extended the deadline for sign ups for their upcoming workshop, and would like area residents to consider attending the upcoming sessions.

From Alberta BearSmart Committee Co-chair Fauve Blanchard:

The Alberta BearSmart Committee cordially invites you to the 2017 Wildlife Smart Workshop in Edson, March 28 to 29, 2017, “Creating safe spaces for wildlife and people”. The workshop aims to share, discuss, and identify actions forward on cooperatively reducing human-wildlife conflicts across Alberta. Some of the highlights of the workshop include:

  • update on the current status of the Alberta BearSmart program;
  • information on how the Government of Alberta can help facilitate meaningful BearSmart initiatives and groups throughout the province;
  • opportunity to connect with or join a Regional Wildlife Smart Group; and
  • details about Wildlife Smart programs from agriculture, industry, municipalities and government from across the province.

In addition, an Electric Fence Workshop will be held on the following day, March 30, 2017. This event will include demonstrations of a variety of electric fence types and other BearSmart tools.

We encourage anyone to attend who feels they can contribute or benefit from the workshops; this includes members of the public. If you have a presentation, booth, poster or other means that could contribute to this event, please send details. Please consider sharing this invitation with others you feel would benefit from these workshops.

Further details and agenda will follow in coming weeks. Lunch will be included at the 2017 Wildlife Smart Workshop and therefore space is limited. Please RSVP for one or both workshops ASAP, by emailing Fauve.Blanchard@gov.ab.ca.

Deadlines for signups have already been extended, so be sure to act quickly if you are interested in attending.
