Mark your calendar! The Town of Hinton is proud to host Ridges and Roots: Alberta Day Celebration on Sunday, August 31 at Kinsmen Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Join us for a vibrant afternoon honouring Alberta’s history, culture, and mountain spirit—with food trucks, live music, a pie contest, art displays, a duck race, and more.
What to expect:
- Live local performances
- Food trucks featuring local and international flavours
- Art activities and vendor showcases
- Family fun, including the Hardisty Duck Race
- A friendly community pie-baking competition
All activities are free to attend. Bring your lawn chair, your Alberta pride, and help us celebrate what makes this province—and our community—so special.

Calling all bakers—home-based, professional, and everything in between!
The Ridges and Roots: Alberta Day Celebration is hosting a community pie contest with $100 #HintonFirst Bucks, a blue ribbon, and bragging rights up for grabs.
Entry deadline: August 17
Judging takes place: August 31 at 12 p.m.

- Best Cream/Custard Pie
- Best Fruit Pie
- Best Savoury Pie
- Youth Category (Under 17)
Each entry includes two identical 9-inch pies—one for judging, one for auction. All proceeds from the pie auction go back to the community.
