Emergency Preparedness Drill in Hillcrest Zone on Saturday, May 3
May 2, 2025
On Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Town of Hinton and emergency personnel will be conducting an emergency preparedness drill. It will include a mock evacuation due to the threat of wildfire.
This is a planned exercise only — no real emergency is occurring.
Residents in the Hillcrest area will have already received direct communication and instructions, including the opportunity to participate voluntarily. Residents in the Hillcrest Evacuation Zone will notice an influx of first responders throughout the day.
What to Expect:
The drill will take place in the Hillcrest Evacuation Zone, with only a partial evacuation
Emergency crews and vehicles will be active in the area
Drones may be used for training purposes
Emergency personnel will be knocking on doors to simulate evacuation procedures
Residents in the zone may choose to voluntarily participate in the evacuation or receive FireSmart™ education materials
On May 3, communication will be provided that an Emergency Drill is occurring and how to proceed if you are in the affected zone and choose to participate.
For those outside the drill zone, no action is required. But this is a great time to check your zone location and review your emergency plan.
The goal of this drill is to ensure our community is ready for future emergencies and to raise awareness about evacuation planning and FireSmart™ safety. Your cooperation helps ensure we’re all ready in case of a real emergency.
