Emergency Preparedness Drill in Hillcrest Zone on Saturday, May 3
April 24, 2025
The Town of Hinton and emergency response teams will conduct a planned emergency preparedness drill on Saturday, May 3, 2025, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This exercise is part of our commitment to improving community safety and emergency readiness.
The drill will simulate a neighbourhood evacuation in the Hillcrest evacuation zone. Emergency response personnel will be present, and drones may be used for observation and training.
We want to assure everyone that:
- There is no actual emergency — this is strictly a training event.
- Emergency service personnel and vehicles will be active in the area on May 3
- The drill is being conducted in a controlled and respectful manner.
- Normal Town services will continue as usual
This is an important opportunity for the Town and its partners to test emergency response plans and help educate the public on what to expect in the event of a real evacuation.
Even if you’re not in the impacted area, we encourage all residents to take time that day to review your emergency plans, sign up for local alerts, and explore FireSmart™ practices that help protect our homes and community.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep Hinton prepared and resilient.
If you have any questions about the drill, please email Hinton Search and Rescue President David Dower at president@hsar.ca.
