New recreation fees will take effect on January 1, 2025, as part of the Town of Hinton's annual fee review process. These updated rates apply to recreation memberships, punch passes, daily admission, and facility and equipment rentals. This fee increase will help ensure our community’s services continue to meet operating needs while staying accessible.
Why the Change?
Recreation fees are updated annually to help cover operating costs while keeping services accessible to the community. Historically, these adjustments occurred in the fall. Starting in 2025, this increase will take effect on January 1 to align with the calendar year and municipal budgeting. This timing simplifies planning for users and ensures consistency with other town-wide rates and policies. Recreation user fees contribute approximately one-third of the cost of operating facilities and programs, with the remainder funded through taxation, grants, and other revenue sources. This cost-sharing approach allows Hinton to maintain amenities and services for all residents while fostering fairness and sustainability.
What’s Changing?
Revised daily admission rates will impact all users of recreation services starting January 1, 2025. Notable changes include:
- Adults: $8.00 in 2024 → $9.00 in 2025
- Children (6–12 years): $4.75 in 2024 → $5.50 in 2025
- Families: $16.25 in 2024 → $19.75 in 2025
All other categories, including preschool, infant, and seniors, either remain unchanged or reflect modest increases of $0.75. Fees for facility bookings and memberships are similarly updated to help balance rising costs and maintain top-tier services.
