Child on Monkey Bars

Back to School, Back to HKFS!

While the younger folk may not want to believe it, it’s getting close to back to school. That has some parents considering what to do with their little ones after school, and one great program from the Town of Hinton FCSS has the answer.

Hinton Kids for Success (HKFS) is an out of school care program operated out of The Guild. Ages 6-12 are welcomed to enroll, and the program offers many activities to keep them busy. Children go swimming weekly, have homework club daily, and work through science experiments, games, and crafts in the time in between.

For many parents, the big concern isn’t as much the activities as it is the safety.  HKFS is the only licensed out of school care facility in our community, and all HKFS staff take part in in-house training and orientation. That’s in addition to their mandatory valid and up to date First Aid, and their minimum certification as Childhood Development Assistant.

HKFS also offers more services that parents need. Linda Watson, our new HKFS Coordinator, is happy to announce that this year the program is getting started a week early to help get children acclimatized to school hours, and to help them get to know their friends even faster. From August 29 through to September 2, whole days of programming are available with themes including sports, treasure hunts, minute-to-win-it and an end of summer bash. Full day programming is also available on non-school Fridays throughout the school year, and HKFS also expands its hours during early out days.

Fees for HKFS run 375$ per month for full time attendees, 250$ for part time, and 25$ a day for drop ins. Fees at HKFS are tax deductible, and financial aid is available to those who qualify.
