The Town to receive $1M Grant toward The Guild Performing Arts Venue Project

The Town of Hinton has received a $1 million dollar grant under the Cultural Spaces Fund, from the Federal Department of Canadian Heritage. Culture plays a key role in Hinton’s social, cultural and economic development, as vehicles for growth, urban renewal, and effective marketing of Hinton.

As your Member of Parliament, I am pleased to hear that the
Town of Hinton’s application to the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund
Grant for their Arts Venue Renovation in the amount of $1M has
been approved. The new Arts Venue Project will transform Hinton’s
existing Guild Building into a 150+ performance arts venue, providing
home for numerous arts organizations.  Congratulations Hinton!”

concluded MP Eglinski.

This grant will assist in the success of the Performing Arts Venue build, which has a tentative completion time of fall 2017. The construction and full buildout costs have an estimated budget of $5.4 million with $2.5 million secured funds to-date. The budget supports a renovation that will allow a full performing arts venue to be realized for our community – providing a full theatre experience to those who perform and attend. This community space will also support an open floor plan that can be used for a variety of other functions.

“I’m so excited for Hinton in receiving this contribution to our performing arts venue,” stated Mayor Mackin. “Renovating the Guild will provide a dedicated home for the performing arts and cinema space while continuing to strengthen, support and grow our arts and culture community groups.”

Please visit the Town of Hinton website for more information on sponsorship and donation opportunities. In the meantime, please feel welcome to contact Emily Olsen at 780-865-6087 to discuss your interest in supporting the project.
