Highway 16 Construction
On behalf of Alberta Transportation, the Town of Hinton would like to inform residents of upcoming Highway 16 road rehabilitation preparation and construction in our region.
Beginning April 20 with completion targeted for the end of June, Alberta Transportation will be preparing for, and completing road rehabilitation work on Highway 16 in Hinton and area. This work involves removing and replacing curbs/gutters and asphalt on a stretch of Highway 16 from Highway 47 east of Hinton, through town to Highway 40 North, west of Hinton.
As well, Alberta Transportation is making intersectional improvements and changes that will be completed in town to increase safety for drivers entering or exiting Highway 16. The Town will share information on those areas as it is confirmed and becomes available.
Though you may not see work begin in our area until May, workers may be present along Highway 16 through Hinton as they commence pre-construction preparation. For your safety, we would like to remind drivers to use caution when encountering construction staff, and to obey all signage and flagstaff as the construction is completed. Please give yourself extra travel time, as you may meet traffic disruption when using the highway.
We will be sharing construction updates as we receive confirmed information from Alberta Transportation, and updating information on our website during this time. Please feel welcome to contact us through Hinton Listens, or by calling 780 865 2634 for comments and inquiries about the construction and we will work with Alberta Transportation to follow up.
