Staffing Announcement:
Director of Community Services
June 23, 2022
After 39 years of dedication to the Town of Hinton, we announce the departure of Laura Howarth, Director of Community Services. Laura has accepted a job offer from the City of Leduc as their Director of Community and Social Development. Her last day with the Town will be July 15, 2022.
Laura has shown time and time again her devotion and commitment to the organization and community. At the age of 16, Laura started at the Town, where she excelled as a member of the aquatics team and continued to work at the pool during her university years. Once joining the Town on a permanent basis in 1992, Laura continued to look for opportunities to contribute through various roles over the last 30 years including as the Recreation & Marketing Coordinator, Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Manager, Recreation & Culture Manager, and Director of Community & Protective Services. With her broad knowledge of the Town and understanding of municipal government, she has always been the go-to person for so many of us, for so many years. During her time here, Laura also seamlessly stepped into the roles of several temporary positions, including Interim CAO, both in 2017 and 2021. With her keen eye for detail, exceptional leadership skills, and passion for public service, Laura has made a positive lasting impact on the Town in every role she has been in.
“I would like to thank everyone I have had the pleasure of working with over these many years; I have learned something truly valuable from each of you. Special thanks to our amazing community volunteers; I continue to be humbled by your service and inspired by your passion. Take care of yourselves and each other! Hinton will always be my home”, sincerely Laura Howarth.
The Town will not be the same without Laura as a part of our team, however, we are grateful for her service and the time we shared with her. We wish Laura and her partner Doug, all the best in their next adventure.
Sincerely,
Administration
