We mourn the passing of Buzz Johnson
March 10, 2021
With great sadness, the Town of Hinton informs you of the passing of one of the valued members in our community and a former Councillor of the Town of Hinton, Buzz Johnson, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
Buzz was a valued member in the community as a leader and compassionate person who was deeply committed to Hinton. He was a staunch supporter of youth which was illustrated with his long-time involvement with Cubs and Scouts. For years, Buzz’s home was an amazing Halloween attraction in Hinton. He took immense pleasure in personally decorating his home to become a haunted house. His doors were opened to hundreds of children and adults where they were both amused and terrified. He capped the evening off with a fireworks display.
Buzz served as a Town Councillor for two terms, first 1998 – 2001 and then 2007 – 2010. He was sincere in providing points of view that were for the good of the community as a whole. Buzz would voice his opinion but he would also listen to others' point of view so council could come to a consensus, according to former Mayor Ross Risvold.
In honour of the former Councillor Buzz Johnson passing away, flags will be lowered to half-mast as a measure of respect and condolence.
Please keep Buzz Johnson’s family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
