Canada Day Festivities 2022

canada day 2022 (1)

Get ready to celebrate Canada! This July 1, the Town of Hinton has organized a Canadapalooza of fun for the whole family.

The festivities kick off on Thursday, June 30 with Canada Day fireworks at Gordon Moore Memorial Park, next to Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre. This year our fireworks display will start around dusk (10:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.) and the best viewing area is within the fenced area of the Rotary Play & Spray Park or the parking area behind the library/Steve Hotchkiss Arena.

On Canada Day, July 1, Green Square will be the place to be!

Start your Canada Day morning on a full stomach at the pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.  For only $6 per person, you will get pancakes, sausage, and coffee or juice, plus all the fixings.

The Canada Day Parade, organized by Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce, starts at 9:30 a.m. outside Mountainview School on Macleod Avenue. The parade will turn right onto Mountain Street, right onto Gregg Avenue, right onto Park Street, and then back to Mountainview School.

At 11 a.m. the Canada Day Cake will be cut at the Information Centre at Green Square, just as the Encore Showmobile Entertainment kicks off with the Opening Welcome and O’Canada. All day, Green Square will be alive with the sounds of local performers sharing their talents on the Encore Showmobile stage. Bring your own lawn chair and umbrella, and enjoy the entertainment!

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be craft vendors, food vendors and food trucks onsite, including Pat’s Catering, Royal Garden, Wow Chow Express & Bakery, and Dito Tayo – Bubble Teas. There will also be demos, displays and fundraisers from Hinton Cougars, Options HIV West Yellowhead, Northern Rockies Museum and New Heights Fitness, plus a bouncy castle, games and activities.
