The Town of Hinton would like to share a friendly reminder on the Do’s and Don’ts of displaying temporary signs around town.
Lawn Sale, Garage Sale, Special Event
Temporary signs advertising lawn sales, garage sales and special events are permitted on the sides and medians of Town roads (not the Highway), provided they do not interfere with the maintenance of the area or create a hazard. They must be removed after 48 hours.
Commercial Signs
Commercial and point-of-sale signs are permitted only on lands abutting the premises of the business, not on road sides or medians. These signs are only permitted only during hours of operation, they should not obstruct pedestrian or vehicular traffic, and should be at least 10 metres from another commercial sign.
Mobile vendors may put up temporary signs within five metres of their business location. They are not permitted on roadsides or medians.
Real Estate Signs
A maximum of two real estate signs may only be put up on property that is for sale, lease, or rent - and must be removed seven days after closing date.
