Cold Weather Advisory

Cold Weather Advisory

With a deep cold setting in over the region, cold weather impacts are likely to be felt by a wide number of Town residents. So as to gather many of the resources you may need during this weather system, the Town of Hinton Strategic Services has  prepared the following CivicSend.

Impacts to Service

The Town of Hinton wishes to preemptively caution that there may be disruptions to service as cold weather continues. While the Town is working to ensure that we work through the weather as business as usual, it is quite possible that weather sensitive equipment may need to be shut down and planned around. The Town will work to notify impacted residents should shut downs be necessary.

If you have questions regarding services such as garbage pickup and other ISB services, please call 780-865-2634.

Minimal Time Outdoors Recommended

Weather Canada is continuing its cold weather advisory for our area, saying that wind chill values could exceed -45 in some areas. Weather Canada issued the following advisory in their most recent alert:

"Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside."

Snow Clearing

This cold weather does bring along with it some potential snow and flurry activity.

For information on the 2019/2020 Snow Clearing Plan and sidewalk clearing, please view the plan here.

One Blanket at a Time

The Town of Hinton is using its communication network to share information about Hinton Employment and Learning Place’s One Blanket at a Time temporary shelter program. For further information, view the CivicSend here
