A message from the Town of Hinton
The Town of Hinton is taking action to protect its employees from a continued pattern of abuse and harassment by members of the public on social media.
The Town is deeply troubled by a number of offensive and racist posts directed at certain Town staff on public Facebook accounts. Intolerant and abusive posts are unacceptable, and not reflective of our community’s shared values. The Town is committed to offering a safe and welcoming work environment for its employees, and cannot tolerate this behaviour.
As a result, the Town intends to take action against any individual who engages in a pattern of abusive behaviour towards municipal employees.
While everyone in the community is encouraged to express their opinions or views on matters relating to the Town, we ask you to do so in a respectful manner. The Town will have zero tolerance for any racist, threatening or defamatory posts regarding any Town employee.
Any individual who the Town of Hinton deems to have engaged in such behaviour will face consequences that may include a ban from some or all Town facilities.
The Town of Hinton will not engage on any social media pages, groups or feeds with a history of such offensive or abusive publications. If residents have questions or wish to obtain information from the Town, they can do so through Hinton Listens section of the Town website or by contacting Martin Taylor, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town.
