Interagency: AHS - Dementia Advice Line

Greetings,

I wanted to reach out to you to introduce myself. I am Debra Kasowski, the Clinical Manager of the Dementia Advice Line, with Alberta Health Services. The Dementia Advice Line launched in September 2015 and is a clinical advice line within Health Link/811. We have registered nurses that provide specialized telephone-based support to Albertans living with Dementia and to those providing care. We complement existing services through the Alzheimer’s Association – (First Link, ASANT café) and Home Care, Family and community Support Services (FCSS), and Seniors Centres.

Our intention is to:

  • Increase access to appropriate information and supports
  • Increase the use of Health Link to decrease inappropriate visits to emergency departments and admissions to acute care
  • Reduce family caregiver stress
  • Improve quality of life for Albertans living with Dementia

Would you like to be put on our distribution list for future Dementia Bulletins?

Please let me know how we can support your community in serving care partners and those living with Dementia.
