getting back to business - SAFELY
Message from Hinton Town Council
Over the last two months, our community has worked to keep each other safe during the worst pandemic in over a century.
Your Town Council recognize and appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of Hinton’s businesses and residents, as you have done your best to comply with Municipal and Provincial restrictions. These actions have slowed the spread of the virus in our area, and allowed for our local healthcare personnel and resources to manage the situation as it played out in Hinton.
Our Reopening Strategy, developed in consultation with the Emergency Operations Centre, Alberta Emergency Management Agency, Alberta Health services, both local and Provincial, allow us to gradually lift Municipal restrictions, while ensuring we all continue to follow public health guidelines. This Strategy begins with the removal of Municipal restrictions, and aligns with the pace of the Provincial Relaunch Strategy. More information will be shared on Hinton’s recovery efforts in the coming weeks, and we welcome any questions or comments that you may have as we complete these plans.
Hintonites have shown resiliency, strength and flexibility as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, and we are grateful to each and every one of our community members for supporting local efforts to keep people safe.

Director of Emergency Management
Our community’s safety has been at the heart of each decision made in the Emergency Operations Centre over the last two months, and Hinton’s support and compliance with our Municipal Response has been critical in managing the pandemic on a local level.
Though there is risk in reopening parks, playgrounds and public spaces, as well as increasing the number permitted for public gatherings, and removing the restrictions to local businesses, our local residents and businesses have shown their commitment to measures such as social distancing, cleaning protocols and hand washing. We have not seen the end of this virus and these measures are as equally important now, as they were at the beginning. The EOC will be considering how the Provincial Relaunch Strategy is unfolding, as well as the number of cases, and level of risk seen in Hinton as we move through the phases of our Reopening Hinton Strategy.
Please continue to keep each other safe by keeping your distance, washing your hands, staying home when you are sick, and following the Provincial recommendations to limit all non-essential travel within our Province and others. Your efforts help to reduce the impact and pressure on the Hinton Healthcare Centre staff and resources.
As a fellow Hintonite, I wish to recognize the dedicated service from our local healthcare professionals, first responders, and EOC team, and offer my thanks to you all for your support as we continue to navigate this unprecedented health event.
Emily Olsen, Interim Chief Administrative Officer
