Tyler Waugh moved to Hinton for work in spring 2004 and has called the community home ever since.
Waugh has spent much of his 13 years in Hinton volunteering as a coach for hockey or baseball, or as a volunteer for events like the 2006 Alberta Winter Games and the Wild Mountain Music Festival. He was also a member of the Citizens Advisory Group that spent 18 months developing Hinton’s 30-year Vision and spent two terms on the board of directors of the Hinton and District Chamber of Commerce.
Tyler’s biggest volunteer passion has been the Hinton United Way, joining as a board member in 2005 and spending the better part of the past 12 years as president of the all-volunteer organization that supports local non profits.
He moved to Hinton as a journalist, telling Hinton’s stories through the lens of a camera or through the written word. Waugh is proud to be co-owner of a community-minded, locally-owned business.
But the biggest source of pride in his life is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Just kidding ... kind of. No, his heart is really saved for his beautiful partner, Morgan, and his two boys Gabe and Walker.
He’s eager to apply all he’s learned through more than a decade of covering Town council, as well as through family and volunteer experiences, to represent the best interests of Hinton as a whole.
Tyler is looking forward to working with his fellow councillors and administration to grow this already vibrant community into a place that will attract and retain more residents and businesses, do its best to keep its seniors, and continue to prove itself a beautiful and engaging place to live.
