The Town of Hinton would like to thank all residents for their patience following the dam breakage at the beaver boardwalk. It has been determined that the structures of the boardwalk remain safe for pedestrian use. After consulting provincial and industry biologists, we have determined that the boardwalk may be opened for residents and visitors without further disturbing the beaver’s habitat. However, as the water has receded and provided unprecedented access to the beaver’s lodge, one core section of the Beaver Boardwalk will be closed off to dogs. The four access points closest to the beaver lodge now identify the boundaries of the No Dog Zone, and have been marked as such by signage. Please see the above image for further clarification and respect these boundaries. As always, the Beaver Boardwalk and paved sidewalks, all roadways, road right of ways, and playgrounds are On Leash areas for dogs. When not confined to a dwelling or to the property of its owner, dogs shall be at all times be restrained upon a leash and under immediate effective control of its owner/handler. This is a great opportunity to see the Beaver Boardwalk in a new way. The receding water has provided birds with access to preferred foods, and many different species of our feathered friends can be observed by quiet visitors.
